Diabetic Retinopathy Awareness Walkathon: Promoting Eye Health in Kochi with The Eye Foundation

The Eye Foundation has recently conducted a Diabetic Retinopathy Awareness Walkathon at Edappally, Kochi, Kerala in order to spread the message of checking eye health in relation to diabetes and how crucial it is to diagnose the disease at an early stage. The event received a good turnout in terms of age, gender, family and health care professionals who showed interest and support towards the fight against diabetic retinopathy. The walkathon focused on the importance of conducting eye check-ups, especially for diabetes patients as Diabetic Retinopathy remains among the main causes of blindness that can be prevented.

The participants were involved in discussions with professionals who discussed how to prevent diabetic retinopathy by controlling diabetes. Ophthalmologists from The Eye Foundation explained how one should get screened early and also the available sophisticated treatments for this illness.
