Lazy eye or Amblyopia Awareness exercise for young children

Responsive image

Lazy eye or amblyopia is a condition in which one eye is weak since birth due to high spectacle power, squint or few other reasons. The most effective treatment for this is an exercise called patching in which we close the normal eye thus making the lazy eye work. This works best when done in young children till their brain is in a developing stage and it has to be done for many months to regain normal vision. If not treated at early age one eye remains weak and it affects the child’s life, future and career adversely. Parents find it very difficult to sustain this exercise for young children. This summer vacation patching activity was organised to encourage children and parents to continue patching and create awareness about this condition.
