Today, on World Diabetes Day, we focus on the problem of diabetes and its effect on human health in general, and on vision in particular. Diabetes if not well checked can cause complications like Diabetic retinopathy which is a leading cause of blindness and usually has no early symptoms that would alert one.
At The Eye Foundation, we encourage diabetics to get their eyes checked often because early detection is the best way to prevent vision loss. By getting appropriate screenings and following preventive measures, people can go a long way toward preserving their vision and improving their well-being.
On this World Diabetes Day, we call on all individuals to take responsibility for their health through receiving regular health and eye check up and embracing proper diabetes management.
