The Eye Foundation Expands to Serve More Patients
The Eye Foundation at R.S. Puram, Coimbatore has grown into a large hospital and is now among the city’s prominent super-speciality eye care centres. The new block includes 60,000 sq.ft in five floors to the current 70,000 sq.ft block making the total space available in the institution to over 1.2 lakh sq.ft. This expansion enhances the hospital’s admission capacity for 1200-1300 patients daily against the earlier 800+ patients.
Advanced Facilities Across Dedicated Floors
The new block features specialized care on each floor:
- 1st & 2nd Floors: Cataract and cornea services, with oculoplasty on the second floor.
- 3rd Floor: LASIK care with a separate LASIK operation theatre.
- 4th Floor: A subspecialty clinic in paediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, myopia clinic and child friendly play area.
- 5th Floor: Special emphasis on retina and laser surgeries.
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
The new building has 40 consultation rooms, 60 optometry cubicles, 10 operation theaters with three of them for cataract surgeries, 15 investigation rooms, 40 executive inpatient rooms and several optical outlets and pharmacy units. A multi-level parking area is designed to park 120 cars and 200 two-wheelers.
Commitment to Affordable Eye Care
Dr. Ramamurthy, Chairman and Managing Director, pointed out that the affordability of care has not changed. The Eye Foundation has not deviated from the noble cause of offering free cataract surgeries to 15 patients daily through Rajalakshmi Nethralaya.
Inauguration Event Details
The new block will be thrown open to the public on Sunday at 6pm at Rajasthani Sangh, R.S. Puram.
